Low oxygen levels could again be a strain for Darling River fish, as high floodwaters move downstream into the Menindee Lakes. Hypoxic blackwater, which occurs naturally through the breakdown of organic matter, can create a deficient level of oxygen in the water during flooding events. In combination with any sudden temperature increase could create an inhospitable environment for fish.

Fisher Street House lost to fire
Four Fire and Rescue crews attended a fire at a Fisher Street house at 9:15am Tuesday. The brick home was ablaze with smoke billowing from the roof when the Fire Brigades, Police and Essential Energy reached the site 6 minutes after being contacted.

Free of charge
Broken Hill’s first Electric Vehicle (EV) fast-charging station was opened Monday at 51 Bromide Street, near the Big Ant, collaborating with the NRMA and the NSW government. The future will be increasingly automated, and the fast charger will charge an average EV in approximately 30 minutes, according to the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, Sam Farraway.
