Cirque Mother Africa leaps on stage in May

Cirque Mother Africa

After completing a sold-out season on Broadway, theatre production Cirque Mother Africa will be bringing its live show to Broken Hill with a performance scheduled for Friday, May 12 at the Civic Centre.

The 90-minute show will see musicians and artists transporting the audience to the African continent with talent from nine African countries including Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, combining all manner of contortion, acrobatics, traditional dance, live music, pan spinning, hand balancing, and more.

Lead singer and narrator of Cirque Mother Africa, Pretty Nonhlanhla Changese, told the Barrier Truth, “it’s a unique show [and] a special show with a lot of interesting acts”.

“The show is welcoming to all kinds of people – genders, ages, races and backgrounds. You get excited, you’re wondering what’s going to happen next, the music is nice. I don’t have the words to give, but it’s an interesting show, so emotional, so overwhelming. You have mixed emotions while you’re watching this, but it’s exciting.”

“The Cirque Mother Africa troupe, we are here, Australia. We are coming for you, we are here for you,” Ms Changese said.

“You better pack your bags and pick up your kids, just take all your family and go and watch. Buy your tickets through our website, come and watch an experience and enjoy it with us. We will make you happy, feel good, and feel all sorts of emotions.”

Prices start from $59.90 for the Friday, May 12 performance at the Civic Centre on Chloride St. To purchase tickets to Cirque Mother Africa, visit https://www.brokenhill.nsw.gov.au/Community/Events-Calendar/Cirque-Mother-Africa.
