Y’s Men’s Club Scholarships are back

In great news for high school students across the Silver City, the Broken Hill Y’s Men’s Club and Silver City Workingmen’s Club are once again offering scholarships to local students who wish to move into tertiary study after completing high school.

The pair of scholarships have a value of $5000 each and will be paid out as two separate payments of $2500 at the beginning of each semester.

The second semester payment will be contingent on successful completion of semester one studies.

“The scholarships are an investment in the future of Broken Hill, and we hope that the successful students will return home when they have completed their studies,” Ron Farquhar of the Y’s Men’s Club told the Barrier Truth.

Applications are available across high schools in Broken Hill, the YMCA, and the YMCA Aquatic Centre.

The selection process will be carried out by members of the Y’s Men’s Club, two high school principals, and two independent community members.

The interview and selection process will take place early next year. Applications close Monday, January 30 and should be posted to: Y’s Men’s Club Box 1179, Broken Hill, 2880.

You can also hand your application in at the YMCA on Chloride St or the YMCA Aquatic Centre.

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity if you are planning to head to university next year.
