West to build on confidence

West Cricket Club

West will take great confidence from their narrow loss to top side North last weekend and will look to further build on that confidence when they take on ‘cellar dwellers’ South today at Alma Oval.

The return to form of Max Everuss with the bat was heartening from a West point of view while Mackenzie Attard also showed glimpses of better things to come. His brother Paddric now needs to find his early season form as well to give West some momentum heading towards the pointy end of the season.

South had one of their better batting sides on the park last weekend but Central’s bowlers never let them in the game. Laurence Hebbard and Peter Christos will be looking to repeat that dose again today by making early inroads into a rather brittle batting line-up.

Tristen Smith, Matt Gray, Paul Nicholas and Nick Christos all need to contribute with the bat if South is to extend this game out to the 40 overs.

South’s bowling attack looked a lot better last weekend and they may create some concern if the Roos batters can get to a score of around 120 runs on the board. Unfortunately, they have not been able to achieve this on too many occasions this season and this game shapes potentially as a confidence builder for West.
