Transport Talks Today

Bus

Residents of Broken Hill have a unique opportunity this Saturday, November 25, to directly influence the future of their bus services. The NSW Government is hosting a face-to-face forum, inviting locals to share their views and experiences with the Bus Industry Taskforce and Transport for NSW planners.

This initiative, part of the Minns Labor Government’s efforts, aims to gather valuable insights from bus passengers and their representatives. The feedback collected will play a crucial role in shaping the Taskforce’s recommendations for enhancing the reliability, quality, and overall effectiveness of bus services throughout NSW.

The forum is a chance for commuters to voice their opinions on various aspects of the bus service, including frequency, reliability, routes, bus stop setups, and accessibility. The insights gained will guide the Taskforce and the Minister for Transport in making informed decisions to improve bus services in Regional NSW.

The community is encouraged to participate in one of the two sessions scheduled at the Broken Hill Civic Centre, located at 31 Chloride Street, Broken Hill NSW 2880, from 9 am to 10:30 am.

For those who cannot attend in person, there is an option to submit feedback online at https://www.nsw.gov.au/have-your-say/bus-industry-taskforce. The website also offers translation options, allowing feedback in various languages.

Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, Marjorie O’Neill, emphasized the importance of a reliable and flexible public transport system in connecting communities across the State. She expressed eagerness to hear from Far West passengers to understand their vision of a successful bus network. O’Neill highlighted that the forums have significantly contributed to the Taskforce’s recommendations to the Government.

Member for Barwon, Roy Butler, also shared his views, stating, “The best public transport systems are the ones that keep evolving and improving to match what the community needs.” Acknowledging Broken Hill’s significance in the region, he expressed his commitment to ensuring the town receives a public transport system that meets the needs of its residents.

This forum represents a significant step towards understanding and addressing the specific public transport needs of Broken Hill, offering a platform for residents to shape the future of their local bus services.
