Tertiary scholarship applications open for students

By Jason Irvine

Students undertaking tertiary studies across the country could benefit from a diverse range of scholarships in 2023, courtesy of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

The long-standing program – it’s in its sixteenth year – is dedicated to supporting tertiary students and giving them the opportunity to access a range of scholarships by providing up to $5000 to help ease the tertiary education’s financial burden.

The scholarships on offer include:

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Uni Scholarship for rural and regional students (12 scholarships of $6500 per student, per year for two years)

Bendigo Bank TAFE Scholarship for rural and regional students (five scholarships of $5000 per student, per year for two years)

Robert Johanson Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Board Scholarship (one scholarship of $8000 per year for two years)

Bendigo Bank Indigenous Scholarship Program (four scholarships of $6500 per year, per student for two years, studying at either university or TAFE)

Rural Bank Argibusiness Scholarship (four scholarships, including two Indigenous Agribusiness scholarships, of $5000 per student, per year for two years, with students needing to demonstrate wanting to contribute to the Australian agriculture sector)

Established in 2007, the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Scholarship Program has provided $11 million to 1336 students around Australia, placing an emphasis on regional and remote areas and last year providing 292 scholarships to students, funding $1m towards students’ studies.

Jacqueline Hey, the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Chair, said the Bank considered the Scholarship Program an investment in the leaders of tomorrow.

“Tertiary education can be costly and scholarships like these can make a big difference for many students,” Ms Hey said.

“Our scholarships can be used to help finance the cost of travel, accommodation, tutoring, course materials or study equipment.

“Our purpose is to feed into the prosperity of our customers and their communities, and not off them, and our Scholarship Program is just one example of how we do that on a practical level. I urge eligible students to apply as soon as they begin accepting applications next week.”

Applications open on Thursday, December 1 and vary in closing dates. For more information on the individual scholarships on offer including any pre-requisites to apply or inclusions for the scholarship, visit https://www.bendigobank.com.au/scholarships
