Tex’s career high…

It has been a winter of “career bests” for Taylor Walker. Most goals in a season (76), most goals in a game (10), and now, at the age of 33, the most votes he’s ever received in a season on Brownlow night.

Taylor Walker secured 16 votes, collecting a career-high tally. This follows a 14-vote performance in 2022. His previous best was 10 votes in the 2015 campaign. Across his 260-game AFL career, Walker has amassed 84 career votes, now sitting in seventh place overall in Adelaide Crows history.

His 2023 efforts included four best-on-ground, three-vote games. The first came in round six, where he kicked four goals in a thrilling away win against the Hawks. As expected, he received top honours for his 10-goal performance in his milestone 250th game against the Eagles, and in the final match of the season at Optus Stadium in Perth, where he slotted through nine.

He also received three votes from the umpires for his 20-possession, seven-goal performance against Port Adelaide in the Round 20. There were two-vote performances in the Round 9 home match against St Kilda and in Round 15 when the Crows lost a thriller to Collingwood by two points.

Coleman Medallist from Carlton, Charlie Curnow, led the way for key forwards with 17 votes. Grand Final participant, Brisbane’s lanky power forward Joe Daniher, also reached a double-figure total of 12 votes.

At the other end of the ground, St Kilda’s All-Australian full-back Callum Wilkie received his first votes in his 89th AFL game when he collected three votes against Gold Coast in Round 4. Lions star defender Harris Andrews had a pair of three-vote performances, while GWS Giant gun defender Sam Taylor secured three in Round 19 against the Suns.
