Students to shine on Bash stage

Thirty young performers from two local Broken Hill schools, as well as schools from Wentworth, Menindee, and Wilcannia, will get the chance to shine on stage at next month’s Mundi Mundi Bash.

As part of Shane Howard’s set on the second day of the festival – Friday, August 18 – the students will take the stage in a combined choir called The Subtext, with heart-rendering performances of two iconic Australian hits, penned and performed by the folk rock singer-songwriter.

The Subtext Choir, accompanied by the former Goanna vocalist and guitarist, will be performing renditions of Shane Howard’s own Heart of My Country, and Goanna’s famous anthem, Solid Rock.

“I think it’ll be fantastic,” Mundi Mundi Bash Managing Director, Greg Donovan, told the Barrier Truth.

“We’re really looking forward to it. We’ve been working with various locals and organisations to support this.

“Last year, we had the choir from the school at Wilcannia come and play with Missy Higgins, so that was a really special moment at the Bash, and we’re really looking forward to this set. It’s great to be involving so many different local schools all coming together too.”
