Silverton Recovery Day ready

Silverton Hotel Recovery Day

On Sunday, Silverton Hotel publicans Peter and Patsy Price will start welcoming visitors arriving for the 59th annual St Pat’s Recovery Day.

With close to 1000 people expected to pack the pub during the day and Fire Bucket providing live entertainment, Adelaide’s Paul McGrath will host the event.

As is usual for the Silverton Hotel, Peter and Patsy’s friends and family will be helping the staff both before and during Recovery Day.

“They help us with everything, from selling souvenirs to serving customers and everything in between,” Peter says.

“It means we can all focus on ensuring the drinks stays cold and the food hot,” Peter laughs.

The souvenir shop, built not long before last year’s Recovery Day will be offering a broad range of pub and St Pat’s memorabilia, including t-shirts and hats, stubby holders, and stickers.

Meanwhile the kitchen will be preparing to serve hotdogs, chips, burgers, and sandwiches to a crowd hungry for a great day.

Thanking their family, friends, and staff, Peter and Patsy said the event simply could not be held without their contribution.

“Our staff are an integral part of the Hotel and making St Pat’s Recovery Day a success, we rely on our staff all the time,” Peter said.

He added, “we are all looking forward to moving into the tourism season, we’re all fired up and ready to go.”

For the duo, this year’s Recovery Day may be their last as publicans, as the Silverton Hotel is on the market for sale.

In an earlier interview with the Truth, Peter and Patsy said they are looking for enthusiastic buyers to begin the next chapter for the iconic business.

“We’re not in a rush to sell though. We are diligent to see the right person to buy the pub,” Peter and Patsy added in the earlier interview.

The couple anticipate tomorrow’s event will be one of their busier Recovery Days.

“We hope to see everyone at the Pub to celebrate another great St Pat’s,” says Peter.

John Langford Hotel Brokers are handling the sale of the pub. They can be contacted on 0410 605 224.

On Sunday, a free bus service will transport patrons from Broken Hill to the pub, leaving the Visitor Information Centre from 11.30am, 12.30pm, and 1.30pm. Buses will eturn patrons to Broken Hill throughout the afternoon.
