Rope Quoits Are Back

Rope Quoits Association

All the action from the Broken Hill Rope Quoits Association (RQA) is back from this Sunday, as the 2023 RQA season gets underway.

After some discussion, the RQA made the decision to go ahead this year in a mini format featuring four teams but they are hopeful at least another two teams can be added. The competition begins on February 27, under the  Summer Competition banner.

The 10-week season is affiliated with the Australian Rope Quoits Council.

“The comp will commence at the Sturt Club Hall at 7pm with two pegs operating,” former RQA president Milton Hawke Senior told the Barrier Truth.

“We are appealing for members to meet with past players who would like to build a team, so if anyone has any interest in playing the Summer Competition please don’t hesitate to call me on 0418 858 388,” Mr Hawke Sr said.

And in other quoits news, at the Annual General meeting (AGM), a new president was elected following the retirement of long-standing president Milton Hawke Sr, who remains on the board as publicity officer.

The presidency will remain in the Hawke family though, with Ms Jodie Hawke elected to the position. Raeline Kennewell and Peter Pearce were named her senior vice presidents.
