Minns’ $500k plan to support regional rugby

Regional Rugby Support

The future of Barwon Darling, Outback Rugby League and Tag Competitions should be assured if a pledge made by now NSW Premier Chris Minns during the election race becomes reality.

Mr Minns promised to secure the future of the regional rugby when he announced an elected Minns Labor Government would commit $500,000 a year to support Rugby League competitions in Far West and regional NSW.

The partnership will happen in conjunction with NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) and the Murdi Paaki Regional Rugby League Council Inc.

The program would aim to empower volunteers with targeted education and mentoring in Sports Trainer and Coaching to help grow the next generation of athletes in regional NSW.

“Sometimes the difference between a club or a competition running can be as simple as having funding for a bus or for insurance, said Mr Minns.

“This funding isn’t just good for sport, it is good for community engagement and building the life skills children need to succeed.”
