PCYC Safer Drivers Course for learner drivers coming soon

PCYC roof sign in BH

The Safer Drivers Course is returning to the Broken Hill Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) soon so it’s time to sign up learner drivers to help keep them safer on our remote region’s roads.

Typically the first six months after receiving a provisional license are the most dangerous. New P-plate drivers often find it challenging on the roads without the support of an experienced instructor by their side. So PCYC are helping to equip young drivers with the tools they need to manage the transition to a full license.

As part of PCYC NSW’s Driver Education Programs, the Safer Drivers Course is being run from the Broken Hill PCYC at 58 Gypsum St in February for a fee of $140 per participant.

The next Safer Drivers Course will take place from:

5pm to 8pm on Friday February 9 (Theory)

8:30am on Saturday February 10 (Driving)

To take part in this course, participants must hold a learners Permit, be under 25 years of age and have completed a minimum of 50 hours of actual on-road driving, excluding any credit hours gained under the Structured Professional Lesson (3 for 1) scheme.

The Safer Drivers Course aims to provide learner drivers with the knowledge they need to reduce road risks and prevent accidents by becoming a safe driver. As an accredited provider of the transport for NSW Safer Drivers Course, PCYC NSW know that their students will complete the course with a greater understanding of how to be a safe P-plate driver.

The Safer Drivers Course will help participants to recognise on-road hazards, identify safe and unsafe gaps in traffic, become a proactive safe driver, recognise how to reduce crash risk, and help learner drivers to cope with lifestyle pressures, all while adding 20 hours to their logbook.
