Open Cut artists announced

Local artist Graeme Armstrong and Northern NSW artist Charlotte Haywood will be creating special artworks for Broken Hill after the pair were selected for 2023/24 artist in residency program titled The Open Cut Commission.

Building on the long history of residencies and field work undertaken in the region and continuing to support creative practices in regional Australia, the duo will each receive $10,000 to undertake field work in Far West NSW to develop a creative, responsive project which will be included in the Broken Hill City Art Gallery’s 2024 artistic program.

“The response was fantastic with all 36 submissions being of high quality which made it very difficult to select successful recipients,” Council’s Gallery and Museum Manager Kathy Graham said.

“I congratulate both Graeme and Charlotte on their successful submissions and am excited to be working with these artists to help achieve the final outcomes of the residencies with their exhibitions in 2024.”
