Mary Saxby turns 100

Broken Hill is celebrating another 100-year-old amongst its residents, with Mary Saxby celebrating the milestone yesterday – Monday.

Born in 1923, Ms Saxby has only been a resident of the Silver City for five years since moving from the Queensland suburb of Redbank. She was married for 65 years and had one daughter, Deanna.

To celebrate her birthday surrounded by her daughter and her son-in-law, she said was, “wonderful”.

“I want to keep living on. I don’t want to go yet. I’m hoping to keep going!,” Ms Saxby told the Truth.

Asked the secret to making it to 100 years of age, Ms Saxby said, “I’ve done all the right things!”
