Mission Australia is hosting a free community event today – Wednesday – to celebrate Youth Week, with fellow local services in Broken Hill also set to join in with the activities at Sturt Park.
Billed as a fun day out for members of the community, and an opportunity to learn about the services and supports available locally to young people and their families, the date also coincides with Youth Homelessness Matters Day which aims to raise awareness and public discussion about youth homelessness.
Kicking off from 12pm, activities include a BBQ (with other food and drink options available), laser tag, live music, prizes and giveaways, a colour run, craft activities, face painting, giant games, and more.
At the event, Mission Australia will also be launching the 2024 Mission Australia Youth Survey which the organisation hopes will provide insights into the wellbeing of young people and give them an opportunity to use their voice to share their concerns on issues important to them.
