Front counter service moves to new $16m police station

New Police Station

It’s taken over two years to build but at last the new $16m state-of-the-art Broken Hill police station is soon to open, with all front counter enquiries to be made at 80 Blende St as the old station’s front counter at Argent St closes tomorrow – Saturday.

The new police station will be fully operational from late February. A gradual transition from the Argent St station started happening today.

As part of the transition process, a Police Command Bus will begin operating from Saturday, out the front of the new facility, open 24 hours, seven days a week, to take all general inquiries and station visits by members of the public.

Effectively, it will take the place of the front office in the old building on Argent Street, which will no longer be open to the public, until the new station is fully operational.

Police reassure the community policing services in the area will not be impacted during the transition to the new police station site.

Members of the public are urged to contact 131 444 for general and non-urgent police inquiries, and in the event of an emergency, contact triple zero (000).
