Feeding Friends search for a forever home

As Feeding Friends launch into 2024 and prepare to celebrate their second year of operation in March, they are turning their attention to some big-ticket goals for 2024.

The organisation will continue to prepare the nightly meals for those sleeping on the streets, or for those at risk of becoming homeless, as well as continue to donate bundles of food and hygienic products to individuals and organisations alike.

However, in an announcement earlier this week, co-founder Don Barron noted that the organisation will be working towards opening a “Feeding Friends Centre for Homelessness.”

The Centre, according to Mr Barron, will be “a simple facility where our homeless can rest out of the extreme weather during the day, [and be] a place where they can sit in the cool or warmth, watch some TV, [and participate in] some constructive activities.”

“Health care professionals can visit, and [the centre will be] generally a place of safety and a little comfort,” Mr Barron added.

In a sign that Mr Barron plans to power along with this goal, he has already hosted initial conversations with the local Council, and noted that “together, we can make this happen, [as] anything is possible if we work together for those who need a little balance and love in their lives.”

Aside from the Council, Mr Barron is now having conversations with other like-minded organisations, as well as individuals and organisations that might have a space available for Feeding Friends to establish their Centre.

Mr Barron says that with a specific centre, it will make it easier for various services to help those in need, and it will allow those in need to better access the widest possible range of services available to them.

“It also means that we can potentially expand our operations to allow us to help other people, and for Feeding Friends to be able to become a self-sustaining organisation,” Mr Barron mentioned.

Mr Barron is now actively searching for a venue to establish his dream of a Centre and is asking any individual or organisation who might have an available space, which would include a commercial kitchen, and adequate seating and storage areas, to contact him on 0498 953 784 or on the Feeding Friends Facebook Page.
