Easter celebrations abound in Broken Hill and Silverton

Silverton Easter Markets

Broken Hill and Silverton will be celebrating Easter in style this year, with Silverton’s Easter Markets to return for a second year, while the Silver City CRC will hold an Easter Party at Queen Elizabeth Park.

In Silverton, the second annual Easter Markets will be held on Sunday, from 9am until 3pm.

Naomi Schmidt, from the Silverton Bakery, told the Truth “we will be providing breakfast for the stall holders so the stall holders can get out to the Village of Silverton early to set up for the day’s trading.”

Three Silverton businesses will be hosting a combined Easter Egg Hunt; Silverton Bakery and Cafe, Mad Max Museum, and Shearer’s Cook Tavern.

“At the bakery the stallholders will also be participating in the Egg Hunt, [so] this means lots of eggs for everyone,” Ms Schmidt noted.

With 12 stalls committed to tomorrow’s Silverton markets, she added “there is a great variety of products available, which varies from hand made soaps, sculptures, quilting, hand sewn linen, jewellery and much more, [so there is] something for everyone.”

For more information, Ms Schmidt can be contacted via the “Silverton Bakery & Cafe” Facebook page- she hopes “everyone enjoys a fun day in the Village of Silverton on the Easter Long Weekend.”

In Broken Hill, the local branch of the CRC Churches International will hold their second family fun day for the community at the Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday.

The event will commence at 10am with a church service, and then continue at 11.30am with their Easter Egg Hunt and Community Picnic.

Pastor Jessie Heidenreich told the Truth everyone is welcome to the event, and they are invited to bring their own picnic options to celebrate Easter with friends.

“Join us for a joyous day of community and celebration at our Church in the Park event, featuring a free egg hunt and a fundraiser brunch,” Pastor Jessie mentioned.

In encouraging locals to “come together for a day of fellowship, fun, and community spirit,” she confirmed there will also be outdoor games available at the event.

The CRC is an Australian Pentecostal movement that started in the 1940’s, and Pastor Jessie has put on a number of community events since she became the branch Pastor in July 2023, following the retirement of long-term Pastors Wal and Joy Whatnall.

For more information about the upcoming CRC Church in the Park event, Pastor Jessie can be contacted via their Facebook Page, “Silver City CRC.”
