Bruce and Margaret Church are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today – Wednesday March 6 – and their long adventure together continues this week, joined by family and close friends to celebrate the monumental life milestone.

Starting his career as an apprentice Fitter and Machinist on the South Mine in 1960, later exploring various ventures including a successful Broken Hill plumbing business, the entrepreneurial couple eventually purchased Bushley Station near Wilcannia in 1993.

Mrs Church and daughter Pauline opened a shop, Fine Impressions Gifts, at the Plaza Shopping Centre in 1982 and held the ANZ bank agency next door to their shop until 1987.

The couple took up numerous interests and hobbies including go-karting, speedboat racing, stock car racing, and even Formula 500 car racing.

Opal mining was also in the mix, along with flying small aircraft and being involved in various clubs, including Broken Hill Aero Club and Rotary Club where Mr Church is still a member.
