Council receives Federal roads and infrastructure funding

Roads and Infrastructure funding

Broken Hill City Council (BHCC) will receive $310,580 in funding through Phase 4 of the Federal government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.

BHCC previously received $310,580 in Phase 1, $666,521 in Phase 2, and $621,160 in Phase 3 – contributing to a gross total of more than $1.9 million of the program’s overall $3.25 billion in grants. The funding is determined by a formula that takes into account road length and population in a Council area.

Parkes MP, Mark Coulton, welcomed the funding and said he looked forward to how Council would use the funding to benefit the community.

“It’s a great result for our communities that these figures have at last been released. This will enable councils to plan their capital works budgets and progress projects that have been on the backburner after months of major flooding,” Mr Coulton said.

“It has been so necessary to maintain strong support for our towns during the ongoing hardships of recent times. The window for delivery from July of this year through to June 2025 will provide plenty of time for significant recovery works to be completed.”

Council will be able to access the allocation of funding in June, with projects to be delivered by June 2025.
