Blockbusters set to screen at Silver City Cinema

Michael Boland and his team have been hard at work doing a bit of upkeep at the Silver City Cinema.

The iconic art-deco Silver City Cinema [SCC] is moving ever closer to its November 10 re-opening, with some great flicks set to be viewed, including the latest from Marvel and even a 3D version of Avatar: The Way of Water in the pipeline.

“We have given the cinema a deep clean, a lick of paint, sanded the floors, put some carpet down, cleaned the existing carpets, scrubbed everything, polished everything all in readiness to welcome people back to the movies,” says Michael Mr Boland, General Manager of the Musicians Club who recently bought the cinema.

DC film Black Adam and Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are the two initial offerings for cinemagoers on re-opening day.

Those two big films will be followed up by the long-awaited Avatar: The Way of Water, which will be screening in 3D.

Further down the track, and heading into Christmas, there will be plenty of options for kids in the school holidays.

“We will be contacting schools, because a lot of them do trips to the movies to celebrate the end of the school year,” Mr Boland said.

Moving into the beginning of next year, the Cinema will begin showing some classic movies.

“From January we will be doing Morning Melodies or Golden Oldies. You could say the MGM classics library,” said Mr Boland.

The cinema is now also a member of the Independent Cinema Association.
