Argent on Argent open until 10pm every night

A touch of the city comes to our own Silver City with The Argent on Argent cafe now open extended hours and catering for those out and about in the evening.

It has long been a complaint of visitors – and some who live in the city too – that there are very few café or restaurant options open in the evening or even on weekends.

But starting this Monday, the Argent on Argent café restaurant will be open from 6am-10pm Monday through to Friday, and 7.30am until 10pm on weekends.

In addition, they have free home delivery of a range of meals until 10pm every night.

Inspired by her time living in Adelaide, owner Trish Hall, wanted to be able to offer the Broken Hill residents some of the food options available to those taken for granted in larger cities and regional centres.

Ms Hall said the feedback so far had been amazing, pointed out that free delivery had been welcomed by customers as an added bonus.

“We found when we came back to Broken Hill, if we wanted to order a meal at 8 or 8.30 at night there were very few options.”

“We lived in Adelaide for many years and in the city you can order a meal 24-hours a day if you want a three course meal. You can order it and have it delivered.

“In Broken Hill we have a lot of shift workers and mine workers, a lot of them don’t finish work until seven o’clock at night so by the time they get home and unwind, have some family time, everything is closed.

“We found when we came back to Broken Hill, if we wanted to order a meal at 8 or 8.30 at night there were very few options.

“Our home cooked meals, well people are just loving them. We have a home cooked lasagne and spaghetti bolognaise which is also available in a gluten-free option.

“We also have various risottos and the old fashioned meatballs with mash, people just love them, and we have some exciting new additions to the menu coming.

“Of course, we are well renowned for our deserts, some of which we make in house such as our caramel pie and jelly slice which is very popular.

“We have Golden North ice cream which is palm oil-free, gluten-free and nut-free and we are now looking at gelatos so that we have a lactose-free option as well.

“There are even hot dogs available,” Ms Hall said.

Eventually the café would like to extend their hours even further, with a 24-hour weekend option, probably in about 12 months’ time, says Ms Hall, as they will need to obtain the various development approvals.

The Argent on Argent is at 343 Argent St. You can place orders by calling 8001 1866.
