South keep Central scoreless

With West forfeiting its game against North this weekend, there was just one fixture played across the Women’s competition as Central hosted South at Memorial Oval. The Roos won by 58 points to edge ahead as the season gets to the pointy end and finished Round 11 in second place on the ladder.

The game itself saw South with the majority of the forward entries and looking lively by getting first use and keeping the defensive pressure up, even when the ball was inside the team’s own attacking end, which also helped keep last year’s premiers Central scoreless for the entire contest.

South’s Melisa Keenan was the top goalkicker for the match – and the only multiple goalkicker – with four goals, with four players kicking individual goals.

This coming Round 12 fixtures on Saturday see West and Central doing battle at Jubilee Oval while South take on North at Alma Oval. Both matches get underway from 11.25am.
