Truckie charged with drug offence

Broken Hill’s Barrier Police arrested a truck driver for a failed roadside drug test (RDT) and log book offences this week.

Police pulled over a Queensland registered road train entering the city from the east at around 9:10pm on Wednesday (February 14) along Argent St near Warren St for random testing.

After failing a secondary drug test, police charged the driver with Drive with Illicit drug present in oral fluid and associated log book offences.

With images and video of the police search of the truck provided by a member of the public, the Barrier Truth reached out to Lindsay Transport for comment.

“We are aware a Lindsay vehicle was stopped in Broken Hill and our driver has undertaken road-side testing,” a company spokesperson told us. “We are working with our driver and have initiated an investigation. Lindsay Australia has a zero tolerance to driving whilst impaired and we are responding to the matter with urgency, seriousness and care.”
