Top two take big wins

CENTRAL V NORTH

North women continued to show why they’re the top team of the year with a 43-point victory against Central at Memorial Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Holding the Magpies goalless in the first term, the Bulldogs were able to hit the scoreboard early and maintain that momentum, capped by a five-goal-to-none second half that cemented the result come the full-time siren.

North’s Sophie Milne got on the scoreboard for the first time this season by slotting three goals and becoming the game’s leading goal scorer – and the game’s only multiple goalkicker – while teammates Makayla Berg, Rebecca Deer, Brooklyn Gibson, and Tegan Gray kicked one apiece. April Dempster was Central’s only goalscorer for the match.

 WEST V SOUTH

South dominated from the first bounce against West on the way to a 124-point win at Jubilee Oval on the weekend to shore up second spot on the ladder with one round remaining.

The Roos never took their foot off the pedal as the game went on, constantly hitting the scoreboard after gaining first use of the football through the midfield and delivering it inside 50 at a rapid rate with ease.

One hundred-gamer for South, Melisa Keenan, kicked 10 goals up forward, as Frankee Baldwin and Sienna Campbell found the big sticks three times each, while Abbey Johns slotted two goals home.
