Top spot still up for grabs

CENTRAL V NORTH

North Reserves made sure to stay atop their ladder with one game of the regular season remaining following a 112-point win over Central Reserves at Memorial Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs looked in control from the outset, controlling play in the middle and getting first use, while delivering the ball inside 50 to their leading targets and creating as many chances as possible, while the Magpies could only muster a behind after quarter-time.

Jordan Vella led the way in the forward line, kicking four goals for North and being well supported by Bailey Adams and Tobias Hack who kicked two apiece. Central’s only goal of the game came in the first quarter via Sebastian Baker.

 WEST V SOUTH

South stayed in contention to earn a week off come the end of the season with a hard-fought victory over West at Jubilee Oval on Saturday, running out comfortable 73-point winners.

It was a two-point margin the way of the Roos at the first break, and despite a scoreless second term from the Robins, the match was still evenly poised as the teams headed into the rooms with the scoreboard reading a 17-point lead to the away side. However, from there the Roos were dead-eye in front of goal with a 10-goal-to-one second half to help them on their way to celebrate the win.

Matthew Reavill was the main target up front for South, bagging six goals. Jack Bird and Harley Cannard were the side’s other multiple goalkickers with two apiece. Dylan Foggo and Lukas Milne kicked individual goals for West.

SOUTH 1.3 3.6 9.7 13.8 86

This week is the final round of the regular season where the top spot is still up for grabs. Both Round 15 fixtures take place at Jubilee Oval on Sunday, August 20, with North vs West at 10.25am, and Central vs South at 1.15pm.
