Sydney Harbour Fireworks may be great but the fireworks at Tibooburra were ‘spectacular’ according to Melissa Thomson, Manager of the Family Hotel.

Ms Thomson was still on a high from the New Year’s Day Rodeo and Bikekhana.

She said the lockdown had been tough on everyone and having the station people come into town with their families and really enjoy the day was great for everyone’s’ spirits.

“It was a really good outing, “she said.

Ms Thomson added that the night rodeo was amazing, and the midnight fireworks just set the evening off.

“We really enjoyed having the live band Static Rock who were great on the night,” said Ms Thomson.

John Jackson from the Roadhouse said the weekend was a good moral booster and everyone seemed to let their hair down.

He agreed with Melissa Thomson regarding the fireworks.

“For a little town to put on a fireworks display like that, it was amazing.”

He said there is only around 70 people in town at the moment but the New Year’s Eve Event saw the population swell to nearly three hundred.

The bike events included figure eight, barrel race, sprint race, and the twisty wheel stand to name a few.

The horse events included open barrel race, open bull ride, open saddle bronc, the station buck jump, and the open bullock ride.
