Stone the crows – it’s Book Week

Broken Hill Library will be putting on a production of Mo and the Crow for Book Week this year.

Book Week runs from August 20 to 26 and celebrates Australian authors, Illustrators and their books at schools and libraries across Australia.

Broken Hill City Council Programs Officer, Jess Picken, said, “This year’s Book Week theme is ‘dreaming with your eyes open’ and we chose Mo and the Crow to perform as a play.”

The book is selected from Australian picture books shortlisted by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.

The picture book, written by Jo Kasch and illustrated by Jonathon Bentley, tells the story of a man living alone who comes out and discovers a crow picking stones out of his fence.

He shoos the crow away and goes back to being alone.

The crow comes back and eventually the man becomes friends with the crow.

There will be four shows on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday beginning at 10:30am at the Library at 249 Blende St.

Ms Picken said, “We have several schools attending the shows but everyone is welcome to come along and see Mo and the Crow.”
