Silver City Cup success

2023 Silver City Cup

The Silver City Cup on Saturday proved a winning community event with the predicted extreme heat accompanied by a welcomed breeze for the fashion parade, with fine mist systems helping to keep punters cool as they sat undercover watching horses bolt down the home straight to the finish line.

Silver City Cup Chairman, Dave Gallagher, told the Barrier Truth as the event wound down that the day had been a huge success with horses and jockeys coming from far and wide.

“It’s been a fantastic day, it wasn’t as hot as predicted, the crowds were good, and the quality of horsemanship was unbelievable with a lot of trainers coming from out of town to attend.

“Mr Mongomery has been coming to St Pats and the Silver City Cup for many years and told us recently that he’s never won a race, but today he won the first race so congratulations to them.

“At the end of the day, after a lot of hard work and determination to get this event across the line, it’s been a fantastic day and we can’t wait to run the Silver City Cup 2024,” says Mr Gallagher.
