Online tickets are now available for Theatre 44’s rendition of the folk musical, Reedy River. The production, set to unravel the story of the 1891 Australian shearer’s strike, is co-directed by Lyn Collingwood and Armando Licul, with Marilyn Harris providing musical direction. Suitable for audiences of all ages, the musical is scheduled for performances on Saturday, June 3 at 7.30pm and Sunday, June 4 at 2pm.
“Reedy River offers a poignant yet entertaining experience. Our talented ensemble of actors, singers, and musicians will deliver an unforgettable performance,” expressed producer Deb Hunt, adding, “The iconic Australian folk songs featured in the show will surely inspire audience participation.”
In conjunction with the performance weekend, the opening night will serve as a fundraiser for Theatre 44. The evening will include a pop-up ‘Outback Bar’, offering drinks and snacks for attendees.
“We are creating a cosy atmosphere at the back of the theatre, complete with outdoor heating and refreshments. Patrons can enjoy a drink during the interval, and post-show, they’re welcome to linger for conversation with the cast, musicians, and crew,” elaborated Ms. Hunt.
The Reedy River team also plans to present a surprise curtain-raiser, designed to captivate local audiences, and set the mood for the main event.
“With strong ticket demand already observed, I urge interested individuals to secure their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment,” advised Ms. Hunt.
