Quota’s 10 Cent Auction

Quota Club of Broken Hill is holding their annual 10 Cent Auction at the Broken Hill Musicians Club Auditorium on Friday November 3 with this major fundraising event starting at 7:30pm sharp.

The Auction tickets cost 10 cents each. An item is then displayed for auction, and if the item appeals to you, you place your tickets in one of the containers and a winner is drawn.

“It’s a fun packed evening, and all members of the public are invited to attend,” says auction organiser, Pam Odgers.

“The ever popular 50 cent boxes will also be available, and there’ll be plenty of interesting items for auction that would appeal to a wide cross section of people – the majority of items are kindly donated by Broken Hill business houses and Quota members.”

The auction, which the Quota Club have been hosting for the last 45 years, is one of the club’s major annual fundraisers, which is well supported by local businesses and community leaders.

“Letters are delivered to local business houses requesting donations of goods or cash contributions, (and) members also add to the list of prizes to be won,” Ms Odgers mentioned.

The Musicians Club, who host the event, also assist in setting up and providing sponsorship for the fundraiser.

Ms Odgers says that throughout the night, three prizes will be auctioned at the same time, and extra free prizes are also drawn throughout the evening.

Everyone is encouraged to attend to experience this auction firsthand. The admission fee is $2 for adults and 50 cents for children.

“Hopefully the crowd will come back and support us after a two-year COVID enforced break” throughout 2020 and 2021, Ms Odgers mentioned. She went on to say that the evening usually attracts more than 150 participants.

The club has set a $4,000 fundraising goal for the year, after raising more than $4,500 at last years’ auction.

All funds raised are circulated back through the local community to those who need it most.

Last year’s funds were donated to the Eisteddfod Society, Legacy Badge Day, all local schools, Ronald McDonald House, Palliative Care, Meals on Wheels, along with other local causes.

Ms Odgers urges any businesses who would like to donate an item to contact her on on 08 8088 5784 or 0418 110 638.

The Quota Club now look forward to an exciting evening next Friday.
