Police urge caution after thefts

A couple of recent opportunistic thefts at Lakeside Caravan Park have sparked calls from police for both locals and tourists to be extra vigilant with their property.

Inspector Chris Wallis at Broken Hill Police Station urged anyone with information on any thefts to contact the station or Crimestoppers.

He also urged members of the public to lock up their belongings to deter opportunistic crooks.
“It could happen to anyone.

If you don’t lock things up, opportunistic crooks will take advantage,” Inspector Wallis said. “We encourage people to record their belongings. Take photos to document them.

Not only does it help with repatriation in the case of property being recovered, but it is also helpful for insurance purposes.”
