Police investigate death – Body of man, 47, not identified

Investigations into the death of a man in Broken Hill are still ongoing as authorities search for answers.

Inquiries regarding the tragedy have been underway since the body was found lying outside a property on Burke Street on Tuesday afternoon.

According to local police, the victim is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of a 47-year-old man.

Emergency services were called to the home just off Gypsum Street before 1 pm after reports of a concern for welfare.

Upon arrival, officers attached to Barrier Police District found the man’s body with a wound to his neck.

Police forensically examined the crime scene, with assistance from the Homicide Squad, and began to piece together what occurred.

The death sent shock waves across the town, with many community members uneasy with the news.

The streets near the scene were much quieter in the days following the terrifying incident.

Police call out for public assistance, and anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact the local station on (08) 8087 0299.
