Australian celebrity chefs Matt Moran and Courtney Roulston are hitting the road as the 2023 ambassadors for the Your Local Club Perfect Plate awards and as part of their journey across NSW, they’ll be stopping in Broken Hill to sample menus at the Musicians Club, Sturt Club and Demo Club, next Monday, June 19.
The dishes on offer at the local clubs range from a Chori Pollo at the Musicians Club, Masal Style Lamb Shanks at the Sturt Club and Chilli Garlic Prawn Fettuccini at the Demo Club.
The competition, which runs from May 30 through to July 9, is in its third year and is “designed to showcase the incredible quality and diversity of food on offer in NSW Clubs,” according to Acting ClubsNSW CEO, Sallianne Faulkner.
The public is also being urged to take part by visiting participating clubs up until July 9 and scoring the out of five the Perfect Plate dishes on offer.
Diners can only vote for each Perfect Plate dish once, but they are encouraged to taste as many competition dishes at as many NSW clubs as possible to boost their chances of winning a prize.
A $100 EFTPOS gift card will be given away every day of the competition and the two diners who vote for the most Perfect Plate dishes will win a foodie getaway for two valued at over $3000 each.
Matt Moran, who owns a farm in the NSW Central Tablelands, said he is excited to see what club food he can discover in regions across the state.
“I want to see clubs utilise as much fresh, local produce as possible and plate up dishes that take them out of their comfort zone a little bit.
“Having started my career at what was then known as Parramatta RSL, I know there is a plethora of talent in club kitchens and Perfect Plate is a fantastic way for chefs to demonstrate their skills and really impress the public,” said Mr Moran.
Ms Roulston echoed those sentiments, saying “Club food has come such a long way in the last 10 years or so. There are hatted chefs working in club kitchens and club restaurants that are consistently booked out every weekend. I think people are going to be blown away with the calibre of the dishes that clubs have entered in Perfect Plate this year.”
