After months of construction, a new petrol station will open in Broken Hill this weekend.
Metro Petroleum Hillside is gearing up to celebrate its grand opening this Saturday.
The new Metro servo, located at 75 Gypsum Street, will be the second site in town.
Station franchisee, Arvind Ramidi, is looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors in three days.
“Yes, I’m excited,” he said. “It’s been six months since we started construction.
“We planned to open earlier, but hopefully, it will be busy when we open.”
Four staff members have already been recruited, with a further six to eight people expected to fill positions.
Metro Hillside has taken over the old Caltex station that has been closed for some time.
Mr Ramidi said the new station is in a good location and expects it to be a popular pitstop.
“We are expecting some cars to come in,” he said. “We are always cheap, so it will be the same prices over here.”
Metro Hillside will give customers five cents off per litre, through a coupon in today’s Barrier Truth, to celebrate the opening.
The discount will be capped at 120 litres per customer. Truck fuel services are also available.
The station will be stocked with food, drinks and other various items. A takeaway food delivery service will be operational.
Mr Ramidi believes it was a good time to open ahead of big events like the Mundi Mundi Bash just around the corner.
The Metro servo will be open seven days a week from 5am-10pm (Mon-Fri) and 6am-9pm (Sat-Sun).
