Bash less than a week away

Broken Hill and the surrounding region is preparing for an influx of an expected 12,000 travellers to roll through town and descend on the Mundi Mundi Plains this coming week for the Mundi Mundi Bash.

Billed as the year’s largest outback festival in NSW, the stage is set to be even bigger for the third edition of the three-day camping event that will begin on Thursday, August 17.

Many revellers will begin to make their way to Mundiville from Monday to snag a prime camping position.

Spread across the three nights will be some of Australia’s biggest musical talents, from classic bands such as Hoodoo Gurus, ICEHOUSE, and Human Nature, to artists such as the Pierce Brothers and Melanie Dyer who have burst onto the scene throughout the last decade.

Kate Ceberano, Shane Howard, Dragon, Chocolate Starfish, Mi-Sex, The Chantoozies, Caitlin Shadbolt, and Furnace and the Fundamentals will all be returning for a second time, having performed at the inaugural event in April 2022, while The Pierce Brothers and Melanie Dyer each played the Mundi Mundi Bash last August and also make a return in 2023.

Headlining each night of the festival will be a stacked lineup of ARIA Hall of Famers, with What’s My Scene rockers Hoodoo Gurus playing to the crowd on Thursday night. Friday night will see ICEHOUSE take to the stage to perform hits such as Great Southern Land and Electric Blue, before Saturday’s night concert will end with pop quartet Human Nature.

As well as taking in the sounds of the festival, attendees can take in the sights too. A number of installations including camel rides by Silverton Outback Camels, a petting zoo, helicopter rides, morning yoga and stretch, and beach volleyball will be set up around the campsite and plaza.

Comedy shows and movie screenings will also form part of the entertainment, as will the ever-popular Mundi’s Got Talent on Thursday morning, Mundi Undi Run on Friday morning, and Saturday morning’s double feature of the Nutbush dance world record attempt and Mad Max world record attempt for the largest gathering of characters.
