Man killed in floodwater

A man has tragically died overnight after his vehicle entered floodwaters in Broken Hill.

The 56-year-old was sucked into a concrete pipe and stuck due to the force of the water after exiting his Toyota Landcruiser utility according to Police.

Emergency services were called to Menindee Road, 35km east of Broken Hill, around 10:30pm following the alert.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District and SES personnel, located the body of the man in floodwater but he sadly could not be revived.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident was launched.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
