Legacy handed $10k cheque thanks to fund-raising gin

By Stuart Kavanagh

Broken Hill Legacy Group held their changeover dinner at the Civic Centre on Saturday and on top of the official handover to new Chairman Dave Gallagher, the group was presented with a cheque for a whopping $10,000 on behalf of Broken Hill Distillery.

The $10,000 was raised through the sale of a special Remembrance Gin launched on Anzac Day this year.

The gin was dedicated to a fallen comrade of a current Legacy-supported family member. The money raised will go towards helping that family, and other local families in similar situations.

The hard work doesn’t stop there for Broken Hill Legacy Foundation.

The annual ‘Badge Week’ has begun Australia-wide with badges, pens and bears all for sale in order to raise funds for Legacy. Here in Broken Hill, Legacy is having Badge Day this Friday.

Celebrations will include a sausage sizzle in the town square between 10am and 2pm.
