Landcare’s Arid Zone Garden Competition on now!

It’s time to pull out your green thumb and enter Landcare Broken Hill’s Arid Zone Garden Competition on now until early October.

Do you reckon you’ve got the best darn garden in town? Or have you and the kids made an exciting children’s garden? Perhaps you eat out of your abundant veggie patch, or have an impressive nature strip? If so, you may want to enter our local Landcare’s Arid Zone Garden Competition, on now until after the October long weekend.

Categories include:

  • Best arid zone garden (planted predominately with western NSW plants)
  • Best garden
  • Best street-side verge (nature strip)
  • Best children’s garden
  • Best fruit and/or vegetable plot
  • The Silver City Garden Club commemorative rose competition – open to all rose gardens

To enter, simply pop into the Barrier Truth office at 179 Blende St or the Centre for Community at 200 Beryl St to pick up a form.

First prize for Category 1 is $500, Category 2 is $400, and Categories 3 to 6 is $200. Second prize is $100, and third prize is $50.

Judging will take place in mid-October and winners will be notified and presented with prizes at 7:30pm on Thursday October 26 at the Centre for Community Hall with the public being advised via the Barrier Truth on Saturday October 29.
