It’s Show Time!

The Silver City Show is back for another year from this Thursday to Saturday at Memorial Oval.

With prices staying the same as last year, the community-packed event has plenty on offer for all ages to enjoy, from show bags, sideshow games and rides, entertainment including motorcycle stunt shows, an animal nursery, and dinosaur puppet comedy shows for kids.

Market and food stalls will be set up around the Show site, with competitions for arts and crafts, decorated cakes, cooking and preserves, flowers, fruit and vegetables, colouring-in, and photography. Horses will be in action, too.

Having been operating since 1889, the event, run by the Silver City Pastoral and Agricultural Association, is in its 134th year.

“It’s something for the city. All the kids look forward to it every year, it’s good. It’s a good family outing. I used to come myself when I was five years old, now I’m nearly 70,” Silver City Pastoral and Agricultural Association President, Bruce McIntosh, told the Barrier Truth.

“Just come and support the Show, that’s what we want. The more people we get here, there’s more of a chance we’ve got to continue next year.

“Our preparations have been good, I’ve got a good committee, so it should be a good Show.”

Tickets can be purchased at the gate or at the Show office at Memorial Oval. Tickets are $20 for adults (16 years and over), $10 for children (15 years and under), with entry free for children under five years of age. Pensioners ($10) and families ($35) are at a discounted price. Car parking is also available on site for $5.
