Broken Hill has made its way onto the list of Australia’s top 50 towns as voted on by readers of Australian Traveller magazine.
Placing 14th on the list, we sit ahead of famous Aussie towns like Hahndorf (32nd), Coffs Harbour (33rd), Alice Springs (17th) and Byron Bay (15th).
The publication highlights the Hill’s inclusive, arty, vibrant, and out there community, and credits it, in part, to the legacy of the iconic Australian film, Priscilla – Queen of the Desert. It also credits the extreme far west New South Wales landscape and examples of ancient Indigenous stencils and petroglyphs as reasoning for the Silver City’s must-see status.
Coming in at number one on the list was Western Australian town Broome, in the Kimberley Region.
