Hockey star turns over new leaf

We’ve often reported on Donna-Lee Wynen’s hockey news, from her 2022 appearance in the National Masters’ Competition, to her performance during this year’s Sunraysia Hockey Competition, but there’s another side to the local star – she’s just made her debut as a successful page turning author.

Donna-Lee wrote a chapter in volume three of Voices of Impact, alongside 24 women from across Australia, the UK, and USA, have contributed chapters towards the publication.

The book details the authors’ lives, purposes, and inspirations, and it’s already a top seller at Amazon.

Donna-Lee’s, chapter is called ‘showing up,’. She reflects on significant challenges she encountered during her life, including the effects of domestic violence within a long-term relationship, and the sudden death of her son during his final year of education.

Writing about some of those challenges, she says, “the turning point however was when the local community nurse recommended that I see a psychologist. I was hesitant at first as I thought it meant I was crazy. But I found these sessions to be a safe place to escape and realign myself.”

Following this realignment, Donna-Lee took refuge in her studies, and took courses in mental health, and self-development.

She went on to complete a Masters in Reiki, Isis Seichim, and Karuna Ki energy healing, all while becoming a Practitioner in Aura Soma.

A chance meeting in 2010 with a bodyworker introduced her to Ortho-Bionomy, and Donna-Lee credits this approach to saving her life.

“This gentle bodywork resonated with my intuitive vibration and inspired that spark of inquisitive desire to further my body healing knowledge.”

Ultimately, she says she realised, “I am not my fears, vulnerabilities, untruths, or insecurities, I am who I am – a creative art piece in continuous design who is always enough.

“I would not be here on earth without my undeniable faith, belief, and positivity that everything does happen for a reason.

“Opportunities come to those who are willing to discover the abandoned tracks of life, I believe that’s where the treasures of our destiny lie and await our discovery,” she adds.

The book launched on Kindle on Wednesday, and is set to become a hard-copy publication in September. Readers can purchase the book by searching Voices of Impact Volume 3 on the Kindle platform.
