Heel Parade Success

One of the many highlights of the Broken Heel Festival, the Main Drag in Drag Street Parade on Saturday afternoon delighted the large crowd that lined Argent St in a sea of colour.

Rhonda Burchmore, Hans, and Peter Goers led the parade, driven by Bruce Church in his 1965 Ford Galaxie 500, followed by the festival’s other performers adorned upon a float with Foxxe Faux sitting atop the prominent silver stiletto.

From there, fellow drag artists strutted their stuff, with the likes of the 78ers, Broken Hill Scouts, the FWLHD, the RFDS, headspace, planetdwellers, Rotary, and Silverton Outback Camels following in line.

“I got all of those really warm feelings looking out to the crowd, seeing all the faces, particularly all the young people that were there,” Broken Heel Festival Managing Director, Esther La Rovere, told the Barrier Truth.

“I’m just really excited to think that [young people] think this is normal and this is something they can do – go out and be fabulous, celebrate and not judge people, and just let all people shine.”

The festivities in the Town Square area on the day also included entertainment including the handbag toss game, a Priscilla-inspired outfit competition hosted by Kita Mean and Peter Goers, a flash mob dance led by DANDROGYNY, and a performance from Hans.
