Last Friday, the Barrier Truth’s own Administration Assistant, Garon Dolan, shaved his head as part of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, raising some $640 along the way to help support people with blood cancer.
“Working for the Barrier Truth, getting to see all these lovely donations coming in through the door – we’ve got the Christmas toy run, we’ve got all the donations for in the domestic violence [committee] –, it’s just inspiring. It made me want to do something for this community”, Mr Dolan said.
Of the shave itself – which was done in the Barrier Truth office by Journalist Melanie Gates – Mr Dolan said there was a lot of excitement surrounding the chop, but conceded it his first reaction to seeing his locks gone was “definitely a little jarring”.
“It was the first time I’ve ever shaved my head, but it was for a great cause – this is what people who actually have to go through with this experience – so I felt it was definitely worth it.”
