Flower of the Field

The pint-sized fashionista.

Pint-sized fashionista, Emilia Smith, won the St Pats People’s Choice category for Fashions of the Field and the winner’s bouquet could have tipped the tot over.

At just three years of age, Emilia had to be presented with a nosegay instead, which was specially made by gift and décor shop, Eclectic.

There was no shortage of flowers as Emilia’s outfit had a sunflower theme and almost all of the ensemble was bespoke.

“I just love bright and cheerful clothing for children but it’s not on trend, so we had to make it,” said Emilia’s mother, Kristy Smith.

A local dressmaker created emilia’s dress at Finch and Foal. It featured Emilia’s favourite element, large sunflowers,
which appeared even larger on such a tiny frame.

The dress was accessorised with a burst of sunflowers on the headpiece.

“We designed the headpiece and French and Foal made it for us,” said Kristy.

“We even bought the bag and customised the bee.”

According to Leanne Barber, Fashions of the Field Acting Co-ordinator, Emilia was voted the winner with 456 votes on Facebook.

“People obviously thought she was a worthy choice,” she said.

Emilia won $500 of prizes to share with her family, including gift cards from the Astra, Broken Hill Pub, Eclectic,
S-Que Restaurant and Sampsons.
