Farewell to the Truth

As I pen this farewell message for the final edition of the Barrier Truth under my stewardship, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. Broken Hill, with its unique blend of history and community spirit, has been more than just a place of work for me; it has been a source of constant inspiration and learning.

While the challenges facing regional journalism are undeniable, the resilience and dedication of the team here at the Barrier Truth have consistently proven that quality journalism not only survives but thrives, even in the most testing times. Our efforts have not just earned us accolades but have also reinforced the crucial role the Truth plays in the very fabric of Broken Hill.

As I prepare to hand over the reins, I am confident that the foundation we have built together is robust and will support the continued growth and success of the Barrier Truth. The talent and commitment of our team are unparalleled, from the journalists and correspondents to the designers and digital team.  I have no doubt they will continue to elevate the Truth, ensuring that it remains a vital source of news and information for Broken Hill.

To our readers, your support has been invaluable. You have been a guiding light, reminding me of the immense responsibility and privilege the Truth holds in the community. I urge you to continue supporting this team, you are in good hands.

In closing, I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been part of my journey here – workmates who have become friends, mentors and every single member of the community who has engaged with me during my time here.

As I embark on my next chapter, I carry with me the lessons and memories of this remarkable town and its people. Broken Hill, and the Barrier Truth, will always hold a special place in my heart.
