Elliot: It’s time for a giggle

Stand-up comedian Col Elliot invites Broken Hill community members to come out and have a laugh.

Col will be on stage tonight at the Musician’s Club for a performance he promises to be enjoyable and memorable.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “Big weekend in Broken Hill and it’s time to get out and have a giggle.”

The Gold Coast-based comic will arrive in town after he entertains folks in Mildura.

He couldn’t wait to get back to the Silver City and is relishing time on stage after a quiet couple of years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s been a few years – it’s a great spot,” Col said. “It’s starting to open up which is great.

“It’s been rough for entertainers because venues haven’t been open.”

After many albums, DVDs and live shows, Col hasn’t switched his style but can cater to different audiences.

Playing several characters like ‘Slugger Mulligan,’ the entertainer said his comedic approach is always evolving.

“There’s always new material,” Col said. “I’m writing all the time and it’s always exciting.

“There’s a lot of variety in the show and they get to see all sides of me.”

Tonight’s show will feature live music by Steve Anderson at 7:30pm before Col takes the stage an hour later.

Col explained that being able to make people laugh is one of his greatest gifts that he will always treasure.

“It’s the greatest feeling,” he said. “I feel very blessed to make people laugh.

“It’s a beautiful feeling and that’s why I continue to do it.”

The comedian said he no longer fancies long tours and prefers one or two shows dedicated over a weekend.
