Ella is Pageant Princess

Ella Camilleri has dreamed of being Broken Hill’s Pageant Princess since she was a little girl and this year her dream has finally come true.

Sixteen-year-old Ella has been chosen as Broken Hill Quota Club Pageant Princess and she’ll be son a float leading the Christmas Pageant on December 3.

The Year 11 student from Willyama High School, who has also just been elected next year’s school captain, said it was her second year applying for the honour.

“I was contemplating if I should try again and thought I will give it another chance and one Saturday morning mum and I went and dropped it off, on my ells.

“A week later I got a call to say that I had been named.

“Last week I received my hamper and that was great fun to go through.

“I’m looking forward to getting all dressed up and dolled up, getting photos.

“Riding on the float with Santa and then helping give out the presents to the children at the park is another thing I am very excited about,” Ms Camilleri said.

Sue Day, Pageant Princess co-ordinator, said Ella was selected as the Pageant Princess from a panel of independent judges, who reviewed all nominations.

The story Ella told about always wanting to be Pageant Princess, after she started as a little girl attending the pageant every year, pulled at the heart strings of the judges.
