Nominations for this year’s Eisteddfod are open until this Friday June 23 and you can drop entries in at Broken Hill Music on Oxide St.
Schedules for the Eisteddfod, which will be held from August 17 to 22 at the Musicians Club, are still available from Broken Hill Music and the Broken Hill Library.
Mrs Merrilyn Podnar, Publicity Officer of the Eisteddfod Society has urged locals to show their talent in piano, instrumental (including guitars, brass instruments, percussion, or virtually any other instrument), vocal, coral, and speech and drama by nominating to perform in the Eisteddfod. As part of the speech and drama category, verse speaking choirs are also are included.
“We need to make sure we have enough entries to ensure the Eisteddfod not only runs successfully, but is seen as an event where performers can showcase their talents, and where the audience can watch a truly talented show,” Mrs Podnar told the Truth.
She is hopeful the announcement of Jonathon Welch as this year’s adjudicator will draw locals to the Eisteddfod, as Mr Welch was the Choir Master for the ABC’s hugely popular production, the Choir of Hard Knocks, as well as being a tenor singer, choir conductor and vocal teacher.
