Electro-pop artist Christian Patey will be performing a one-off all-ages show – organised by the Broken Hill Repertory Society – at Theatre 44 on Friday, August 11 from 6.30pm.
Bringing a mixture of electronic and acoustic songs from his wide-ranging catalogue which spans the past decade, the Sunshine Coast-based singer/songwriter is looking forward to visiting Broken Hill for the first time, with his family also making the trip across the border and into town.
“I’m really excited because it’s an amazing opportunity to see a whole new landscape and meet new people. I’m also excited to try out my songs out there and see how they resonate,” he told the Truth.
“Broken Hill looks beautiful in the photos I’ve seen. It’s totally different to where I live on the Sunshine Coast. I’m really keen to experience the change.”
Having been played on radio’s triple j and performing sold-out shows while touring with the likes of Boo Seeka, Thundamentals, and Tash Sultana, Christian says he’ll be letting the audience into a glimpse of who he is and his story through his music.
“People have related the acoustic styles of my voice to being like City and Color and then some of the new electronic music to more of a Chet Faker style, your electro-pop,” he said.
“I’ll be playing solo with an electric guitar and beats and samples as well, which will be fun. In the theatre setting, it’ll be great to do that.”
The event is on this Friday, August 11, from 6.30pm at Theatre 44 (189 Wills St). Tickets can be purchased online via https://bit.ly/43YE64m. Concession card holders and those under 18 will be able to purchase tickets at the door for $10.
